28 Nov Year 8 Netball Tour
During the October half term, 11 girls from Year 8 visited Salou in Spain for a netball tour.
The girls arrived in Salou very excited and with much anticipation of what was ahead of them. The girls took part in three training sessions which were held by ex-professional England netball players, Super League umpires and national level coaches. The girls identified and worked on key skills to develop and improve before the competition.
The competition took place on the Wednesday afternoon and was tough. The girls showcased the skills they had learnt in training and came 3rd within their age group. At the presentation evening, Sissy received a special commendation from the coaches as player of the week.
During the trip students also got the opportunity to visit Porta Ventura Theme Park where they spent the day relaxing away from the netball and scaring themselves silly on the rollercoasters. Before flying home we had a whistle stop tour of Barcelona where we visited the Basilica Cathedral and squeezed in some shopping down Las Ramblas.
The tour was a great opportunity for the girls to develop as a team through hard work and dedication while giving them the chance to develop a stronger bond.
The girls showcased impeccable behaviour on the trip and we have had amazing feedback from the coaches and other schools with other members of staff commenting on the improvements they saw. I would like to personally thank the girls for making our trip an absolute pleasure.
