09 May Year 11 GCSE Performance Evening
On the last day of the Spring term, Thursday 24 March, eighteen slightly nervous Year 11 GCSE Music students gathered in the hall for their Solo Performance Exam Evening. As it turned out they had nothing to worry about!
All students played fantastically, despite the exam pressure; the audience were blown away by the quality and variety of performances. The genres ranged from classical solos to jazz and rock pieces. The students played orchestral instruments, classical and electric guitars and the piano. Although the exam is worth 15% of the students’ Music GCSE grade, the focus of the evening was very much on celebrating the achievements of these brilliant young musicians. All Year 11 Music students have now completed 60% of the course and are on track to achieve stunning results in their written exam in June and their final grade in August.
