Inclusion is a priority at Highbury Grove School, and we want all our pupils to succeed. Children with low levels of attainment or those who are vulnerable are placed in a Nurture Group.
A strong emphasis is placed on Literacy, Numeracy and emotional support. These groups have no more than twelve children, and are supported by a teaching assistant. The National Curriculum is taught in a differentiated, accessible manner in order to meet the children at their level and help them make progress from there.
Ofsted describes this feature of the school as a “safe, highly supportive environment” and remarks that children make “significant progress”.
Our aim is to help the children in our care through the sometimes difficult move from Primary school so that they can settle into and enjoy the next stage in their education.
“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
