In Year 7, students learn new skills, in Year 8, they develop skills and in Year 9 they independently use and build on these skills to develop and progress in art and design. Students need to visit art galleries and museums and develop their ideas through investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and cultural understanding. Students need to write about artists and art movements and see art in its raw state. All the skills and techniques are transferable to KS4 and 5 and allow students to make an educated decision when selecting their GCSE options. Links to the art design industry foster enthusiasm for ADT and encourage career aspiration.
