27 May Creative ESOL Workshop
The Creative ESOL workshop was successfully completed with an amazing sharing event.
The sessions focused on developing confidence in speaking English and developing functional language skills through creative drama activities. Our partnership with Rewrite Organisation provided an interesting and exciting experience in learning English enabling EAL pupils from different age groups to learn from each other and contribute to language acquisition.
Our ESOL Workshop received highly positive feedback from Emma Simpson (Secondary English Consultant, School Improvement Services) who visited our final sharing event. “The students’ focus on their individual body maps was testament to their engagement with this task and the pictures you had provided in response to their requests showed how well they had been listened to. I loved the use of their first language to share in pairs and then, for brave students (a surprising number), to the whole group. This created such a buzz and sense of validation and interest. Wonderful for them and others to hear them talking fluently, to have the sounds of those languages in the room and to be intrigued by how much they could understand from each other.”
Thank you very much for everyone involved.
